PROVIDENCE – After a scheduling error with the electronic posting system that shows the date of all meetings open to the public, the R.I. Economic Development Corporation will hold a supplemental meeting of its board of directors on Sept. 28.

Due to an inadvertent error with the electronic posting filed with the Secretary of State, the website page that posts summary information of scheduled open meetings showed an incorrect meeting date of Sept. 25, while the actual meeting took place on Sept. 24.

According to the EDC, the actual public notice and agenda for the meeting on file at the Secretary of State’s office contained the correct date.

The Open Meetings Act calls for accurate and complete notice to the public of all scheduled open meetings.

When the scheduling discrepancy was brought to its attention, the EDC decided the best course of action would be to re-notice the meeting and re-vote on all issues that came before the quasi-state agency’s board of directors at the Sept. 24 meeting.

The supplemental meeting will take place on Friday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at the EDC’s Providence headquarters at 15 Iron Horse Way, Suite 101.
