East Bay Center gets $5,000

The East Bay Center received a $5,000 donation from the Providence Journal Charitable Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.
East Bay Center is a nonprofit community mental health center whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by struggles with mental illness and substance abuse disorders. The center serves children, adults, seniors, and families throughout Rhode Island and surrounding Massachusetts areas, with the primary service area in the East Bay communities of Barrington, Bristol, East Providence, and Warren.
After receiving the donation, the center’s president and CEO, Robert A. Crossley, said, “We fervently believe in a person’s ability to recover [from illness or substance abuse], and we commit ourselves to providing the highest quality of service, regardless of one’s ability to pay. We could not do so without the support of our community and philanthropic entities such as the Providence Journal Charitable Fund.”
He expressed gratitude to the fund, The Rhode Island Foundation and to Howard Sutton, publisher, president and CEO of The Providence Journal Co.
The donation will be used to continue to strengthen programs working to support people living in the community, at a time of ever increasing need, Crossley added.
