Education Exchange offers paid oyster farm training

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Education Exchange has begun recruiting for its new workforce-development training program in aquaculture. The program offers five-week, hands-on training aimed at preparing Rhode Islanders with the skills they need to acquire entry-level jobs in aquaculture and hospitality. Participants will get an inside view of the farm-to-table experience. The program is the result of a grant received through the Real Jobs Rhode Island initiative, according to a report by ecoRI News earlier this month.

The training session will prepare individuals to work in a number of aquaculture jobs, and they will receive a stipend of $9.60 per hour.

Applications can be found online at edexri.org and must be filed by March 18. •
