Eight R.I. health centers receive U.S. funds to continue improving

PROVIDENCE – Approximately $350,000 in Affordable Care Act funding has been awarded to eight health centers in Rhode Island to invest in ongoing quality-improvement activities.
The funding was announced by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell on Tuesday.
“This funding rewards Rhode Island health centers that have a proven track record in clinical quality improvement, which translates to better patient care, and it allows them to expand and improve their systems and infrastructure to bring the highest quality primary care services to the communities they serve,” Burwell said in a statement. “With these funds, health centers in Rhode Island will continue to provide access to high-quality, comprehensive primary and preventive health care to the patients that need it the most.”
Rhode Island health centers receiving these funds were recognized for high levels of quality performance in one or more of the following categories: health center quality leaders, clinical quality improvers and electronic health record reporters.
The following health centers received funds:

  • Blackstone Valley Community Health Care Inc., Pawtucket, $53,332
  • Comprehensive Community Action Inc., Cranston, $50,954
  • East Bay Community Action Program, Newport, $19,178
  • Northwest Community Health Care, Burrillville, $48,428
  • Providence Community Health Centers, Providence, $26,559
  • Thundermist Health Center, Woonsocket, $79,328
  • Tri-town Community Economic Opportunity Committee, Johnston, $43,042
  • Wood River Health Services, Hopkinton, $31,982
