This historic structure, built in 1873 as the commandant’s house for Fort Adams, includes sweeping views of Newport, Jamestown and the Atlantic Ocean. A renovation of the three-story, 8,000-square-foot house began in September 2014 and was completed in April. The work involved a 1,000-square-foot addition, and a complete renovation of most of the interior space. The building is now accessible to the handicapped and can be used for functions year-round. Previously used as a designer showcase, with differing approaches to each guest room, the property now features restoration of original elements, including rewiring of antique chandeliers, and a more consistent approach throughout.
