Endowment awards $2.5K to 20 Providence HS grads

PROVIDENCE – The Fund for the Education of the Children of Providence has awarded 20 graduates from nine Providence public high schools $2,500 scholarships for the 2014-15 academic year.

The fund is a Brown University endowment that provides scholarships for Providence graduates accepted to accredited two- or four-year higher-education institutions.

The awards were based on essays, academic merit and financial need, with preferences for students who are the first in their family to attend college.

Winners included: Maria Ogundolani, Hennjer Alcantara, Daniella Angervil, Danilson Castro, Alejandro Claudio, Diamond Dias, Aby Diedhiou, Elijah Faris, Haiker Feliz, Vanio Goncalves Dos Santos, Arianna Miche, Aalyssa Moore, Jennifer Moreta, Amber Pettaway, Manuel Pineda, Tulisa Reeves, Jamilex Rodriguez, Jessica Vaniester, Cyrus Wiefue and Ming You. •
