Event to mark city being named ‘America’s Favorite’

PROVIDENCE – In celebration of Providence being named “America’s Favorite City” by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, Mayor Angel Taveras and the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau are holding a special event Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

The designation was announced in October. Providence topped a list of 38 cities after 50,000 votes were tallied by the magazine.

“The party is a thank you to Providence’s fans and all those who live and work in the city helping to make it such a special place,” according to a press release from the mayor’s office.

The party, which will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature live music from The ‘Mericans and Ravi Shavi, as well as food trucks and local vendors. There will be a short speaking program at 6:30 p.m.
