Event marks National Recovery Month

PROVIDENCE – Federal, state and a welter of community leaders recently participated in a kickoff event at Rhode Island College for Rhode Island’s own series of rallies marking National Recovery Month.

On hand were Rhode Island’s director of the Department of Health, Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, as well as the state’s director of the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, Maria Montanaro, and with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, among others.

The event focused on warning youth and young adults about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Training to administer the anti-overdose drug Narcan was also provided.
