Ex-Textron executive is new head of RIF board

PROVIDENCE – A former Textron Inc. executive has been elected chairman of the board of directors at The Rhode Island Foundation, The Associated Press reported this month.

According to the news service, Frederick Butler will lead the 13-member board. His appointment will last through 2015. Butler worked at Textron in various legal and executive positions from 1980 until his retirement in 2009. He has been on the foundation board since 2009. Additionally, Butler also serves on the Rhode Island Ethics Commission and is a trustee at Salve Regina University.

He succeeds David Hirsch. •
