(Updated 4:26 p.m.) PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Department of Transportation and the R.I. Public Transit Authority said that expanded bus service will be offered today to T.F. Green Airport in Warwick and Wickford Junction in North Kingstown to offset limited commuter rail service in Rhode Island.

According to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), commuter rail service will be restored to T.F. Green and Wickford Junction this evening, with service to resume with the 813 train, set to depart Providence at 5:23 p.m. Service had been running to the Providence station.

Earlier in the day, buses substituted regularly scheduled MBTA trains.

Visit www.mbta.com/winter/ for commuter rail schedule details and updates.
MBTA rail service will resume today on commuter rail, trolley and subway lines, although the commuter rail system will operate on a modified weekday schedule, making approximately 70 percent of regularly scheduled trips.
The green and blue lines will operate, but with fewer cars and less frequent service, the MBTA said.
The MBTA said limited orange and red line service is available today, and buses will be replacing red line service between Braintree and JFK stops. The MBTA is advising travelers to use commuter rail service where available, and to expect delays.
Weather-related problems forced the MBTA to suspend service Monday night through Tuesday.
