UNDER A NEW partnership, Eby-Brown will distribute FGX International's Foster Grant line of non-prescription reading glasses and sunglasses to convenience store locations throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States.
SMITHFIELD – Eyewear designer FGX International has partnered with Eby-Brown to distribute FGX’s Foster Grant glasses and select licensed brands to more than 13,500 convenience stores in the United States beginning in May.
“This is an important area of growth for our company,” said Steve Burbridge, executive vice president of sales for FGX, in a statement. “Convenience stores efficiently cater to time-starved consumers and Eby-Brown is a crucial partner to ensure FGX’s impressive portfolio of brands is easily accessible to consumers.”
FGX began distribution to convenience stores two years ago, and its partnership with Eby-Brown will expand its presence in the market, FGX said. According to the National Association for Convenience and Fuel Retailing, convenience stores serve nearly 160 million people in the U.S. every day and as many as 58 billion customers each year.
Eby-Brown, the largest privately held convenience store distributor in the United States, operates seven distribution centers and services more than 13,500 convenience store locations throughout the Midwest and Southeast. In May, the Illinois-based company will begin distributing Foster Grant and select FGX brands such as the NASCAR line of sports sunglasses.
“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with FGX on a new program for eyewear, which will serve as one of the key elements of our overall general merchandise assortment,” said John Roach, vice president of merchandising at Eby-Brown. “They have provided us with great market insight and an extremely strong brand that will allow us to deliver the right solutions to our customers.”
FGX International is a wholly owned subsidiary of France-based Essilor International SA, the world’s largest manufacturer of corrective lenses.
