FM Global and Textron Inc. each made Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers, ranking 275th and 349th, respectively.
The companies were the only Rhode Island-based employers to make the list.
Forbes, with the help of online statistics provider Statista, rated 500 employers based on results of an independent survey conducted among 30,000 American employees working at large companies and institutions (with a headcount of 5,000 or more).
Employees were contacted anonymously online, Forbes said.
They were asked how likely they were to recommend their employer to someone else, and how they felt about other employers in the industry, on a scale of 1 to 10.
Marathon Petroleum, based in Findlay, Ohio, topped the list, followed by Google in Mountain View, Calif., and Costco Wholesale in Issaquah, Wash.
Johnston-based FM Global, a commercial property insurer, released a statement about its inclusion.

“Being a ‘best employer’ is important to us,” Thomas A. Lawson, FM Global’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Our employees are FM Global, and their commitment drives the value and high quality of service we provide as a mutual insurance company to our client-owners.
