Facebook comes to Providence for small-business training workshop
REPRESENTATIVES FROM FACEBOOK will visit Providence on March 28 to share advice and tips on how to optimize a small business' presence on the social networking site. The free workshop, hosted in partnership with the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, will also feature local companies and nonprofits who have successfully used Facebook to grow their business.
PROVIDENCE – On Friday, March 28, representatives from the Facebook Small Business Boost team will hold a free workshop in Providence, hosted by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, to teach approximately 400 small-business owners how they can use Facebook to grow their companies.
“Shoppers are increasingly using the internet to find local businesses, and Facebook and other social media platforms can help connect small businesses to potential customers,” said U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline, who will make introductory remarks to kickoff the workshop. “I am looking forward to Facebook’s Small Business Boost workshop in Providence and thank Facebook for bringing their team of experts to Rhode Island to discuss ways small-business owners can take advantage of this online resource to advertise, interact with shoppers and boost sales.”
According to Facebook, more than 25 million small businesses currently use Facebook to connect with customers, who generate an average 645 million page views and 13 million comments each week on local business Facebook pages.
At the March 28 event, in addition to hearing tips on how to optimize their presence on Facebook, attendees will hear from four local businesses and nonprofits that have found success through the social media platform, including Rhode Island Food Fights, Adoption Rhode Island, Narragansett Beer and the Duck and Bunny restaurant.
The workshop will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at the Renaissance Providence Hotel. Attendees were required to preregister, and the event is now sold out.
