Factory production in U.S. increased 0.5% in July

WASHINGTON – Factory production in the U.S. increased 0.5 percent in July after a 0.3 percent gain the prior month, data from the Federal Reserve showed Tuesday in Washington.

Total industrial production jumped 0.7 percent, more than double the median estimate of economists in a Bloomberg survey. Utility use increased 2.1 percent and mining rose 0.7 percent, the report showed.
