Fall River job fair a success

FALL RIVER – More than 500 job seekers and nearly 80 companies filled the Government Center atrium Oct. 19 for Fall River’s Fall Job Fair, The Herald News reported.

Many employers said local competition makes recruiting difficult.

Paul Lemelin, plant manager of Klear Vu Corp., said his company makes textile products for big-name retailers and competes with other local manufacturers for qualified stitchers.

Unemployed since July, Fall River resident Carlos Ayale said he was “pretty confident” after making some contacts with potential employers.

Fall River Career Center Director Joseph Viana said the city is in a good position to work with employers and job seekers “to make those matches.” •
