Family Service of Rhode Island raised more than $190,000 at its annual “Brighter Futures” luncheon held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in October.
The event is the organization’s most successful fundraiser in recent history and the largest amount raised during the last nine years of the luncheon.
During the event, Family Service of Rhode Island, a statewide human service and education agency that works with needy children, adults and families, presented its Brighter Futures Award to Providence Mayor Angel Taveras.
The luncheon was co-chaired by Sally Lapides of Residential Properties, William Vareika of William Vareika Fine Arts and Bradford Dimeo of Dimeo Construction.
“We’re thankful for the hard work of Sally, Bill and Brad and all members of our event committee. They volunteered their time so people in need can address abuse, poverty, mental-health issues, HIV/AIDS and other challenges,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, Family Service of Rhode Island CEO. “We are also grateful for the support of our presenting sponsor, Hasbro Inc., and all who helped, whether through a sponsorship, a donation or a ticket purchase. Thank you!” •
