Fatima to host health fair focused on stroke care

NORTH PROVIDENCE – Fatima Hospital will host a community health fair on May 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. about the signs of stroke and the steps one should take to lessen the risk of stroke.
Fatima Hospital, an affiliate of CharterCARE Health Partners, is accredited as a primary stroke center by the Joint Commission.
Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in America and a leading cause of adult disability, hospital officials said, citing the fact that up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable.
The fair will feature screenings and informational booths on subjects such as risk assessment for stroke, blood pressure screenings, blood glucose and cholesterol screenings, and home health services. Clinical experts from Fatima will also explain how to avoid a stroke and how to recognize the onset of a stroke incident.
