PROVIDENCE – Festival Ballet Providence will stage four mainstage productions at theaters around Providence, and four Black Box productions, at FBP’s Black Box Theater, in its 2013-2014 season, the company announced Tuesday.
“The season I’ve planned will both excite and engage our varied audience members and bring new audiences to the theater,” said Artistic Director Mihailo Djuric in a statement. “We have created a program that mixes thrilling contemporary works and time-tested classical repertory that I know will resonate with our patrons.”
In October at the Vets, FBP company members and students will perform the third annual Together We Dance alongside international ballet stars.
FBP will stage the perennial holiday classic “The Nutcracker” in December in four performances at the Providence Performing Arts Center, choreographed by Djuric.
The remaining mainstage performances, both at the Vets, will be “Boundless Plotnikov,” featuring three works by choreographer Viktor Plotnikov, in March, and “Peter Pan” in May.
In both the fall and the spring, the company will again run its “Up Close on Hope” series at its Black Box Theater, where audiences see a range of classical and contemporary choreography up close in the intimate theater.
The Black Box performances also include FBP’s “chatterBOXtheatre” series, aimed at children. In February, the FBP company will perform Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” and in November and May the FBP student company will perform “MISS McFUZZ + MORE McFUN,” inspired by Dr. Seuss.
