The name changed recently – to Healthcentric Advisors from Quality Partners of Rhode Island – but the commitment to creating an excellent workplace remains a constant. The firm was also honored in 2011 as one of the Best Places To Work by Providence Business News.

The nonprofit consulting firm provides government and private clients with innovative, evidence-based education, tools and resources that measure and improve the quality, safety and value of “person-centered” health care.

It has an employee-recognition program called You’re Tagged, which enables workers to tag another worker for behavior that exhibits the value of the organization, providing cash awards in $25 increments.

Healthcentric Advisors also places great value on flexible scheduling and telecommuting, what it calls creating a work/family/per-sonal balance. “Flexibility continues to be the hallmark of our organization, with the work/family balance an important part of who we are,” said Paula Beers, senior director of administrative services.

The organization has also made diversity a priority, actively recruiting employees in the Latino communities in Rhode Island.

“Everyone works incredibly hard,” Beers continued. “Our organization’s work is in quality health care improvement, so everything we do is cutting edge, whether it be with physicians, patients, nursing homes or hospitals.”

A strong sense of caring relationships pervades the workplace. “We went through a downsizing last year, and it was done with care and sensitivity, and people appreciated it. You had a sense of family, taking care of each other,” said Beers. •
