Former St. Joseph’s Rectory sells for $1.1M in Newport

NEWPORT – A former rectory in downtown Newport has been sold for $1.1 million. The former St. Joseph’s Rectory, on Washington Square, is zoned for mixed-use and has three renovated residential units, as well as a first-floor commercial office space.

The property, at 39 Touro St., includes a lot with 13 on-site parking spaces.

The sale was completed by Paul Tobak and George Tollefson, listing agents with Lila Delman Real Estate International in Newport.

The landmark building offered the rare combination of mixed-use zoning with ample downtown parking and a high-visibility location, they said, in a joint statement.

“There has been significant investment in this sector over the last two years in the downtown area, and it shows no sign of slowing down as investors have recognized the long-term growth and stability of Newport commercial opportunities,” they said.
