PROVIDENCE – The Founders League, a partnership to help facilitate expansion in Rhode Island’s entrepreneurial environment, will celebrate its kick-off with an “EntrepreNew Years” celebration on Friday, Jan. 4.
The Founders League, which is building on a program that was initially launched by the R.I. Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is a partnership between Betaspring, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Brown University and the University of Rhode Island.
The league plans to offer community, space and programming for entrepreneurs of all stages. Providence-based startup accelerator Betaspring will provide leadership as well as a physical space for the platform at its 95 Chestnut St. headquarters.
The Founders League launch event also will take place at Betaspring’s headquarters. “We’ll have food and drinks and the best craft beer in Rhode Island on hand, as well as a special selection of celebratory bubbly and great winter wines from our sponsor Campus Fine Wines,” said a release, adding that there would be “prizes, surprises and special treats for those willing to take the pledge … the pledge to make 2013 the Year of the Startup in Rhode Island.”
The EntrepreNew Years party is free, but requires a ticket for entry. Visit entreprenewyears.eventbrite.com for tickets.
“EntrepreNew Years is brought to you by the Founders League, Rhode Island’s new platform for making startup dreams come true,” said the event invitation.
Starting in Fall 2013, the Betaspring plans to roll-out “entrepreneur-centric activities,” including community co-working, educational programming and networking events for the Founders League.
The startup accelerator will also be involved in creating the league’s long-term operating plan, along with a committee of representatives from the partner organizations and leaders from the state’s entrepreneur community.
