Before opening franchise:

Before I joined the Dunkin’ Donuts business, my family and I owned an industrial catering business.

Reason for opening:

When I decided to take the leap and buy my first franchise, Dunkin’ Donuts had been in business – and had been consistently growing – for nearly 20 years. I saw what Bill Rosenberg, the founder of Dunkin’ Donuts, was building, and I believed in it. The industrial catering business was good to my family for a long time, but I saw an opportunity to join a new, unique, game-changing business built on the values of quality product and unmatched customer service. As an added bonus: I knew firsthand how great the product was; our catering shop served Dunkin’ Donuts donuts! n

‘For me personally – and for many of my fellow Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees – we chose to do business in Rhode Island because Rhode Island is our home. It’s where we grew up, it’s where we raised our families, and it’s where we’re going to retire. Plus, from a business perspective, Rhode Island customers are tremendously loyal to the Dunkin’ Donuts brand. We’re proud of that, and we don’t take it for granted.’

‘Here in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, what sets us apart from our competitors is our presence in the communities we serve. The franchisees in this area are really local small-business owners – and many of us grew up in the neighborhoods in which our franchises are located. We all feel we have an obligation to give back to those neighborhoods, donations, charitable events and other efforts.’

‘Our scholarship program has annually awarded $100,000 in tuition grants to deserving local students for the last 21 years. We work with organizations like the Rhode Island Blood Center and Hasbro Children’s Hospital – and also sponsor initiatives as community focused as local Little Leagues or cheerleading clubs. I’m so proud to work with this group of franchisees.’
