Free seminar for first-time homebuyers

WESTERLY – A free seminar, “First-Time Homebuying Made Easy,” will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at 6 p.m., at Washington Trust’s Reservoir Avenue Office at 645 Reservoir Ave., in Cranston.

The seminar will explore all aspects of the home purchasing process, including what to expect when buying a home, down payment and closing cost options, the criteria lenders use to examine applicants, and program qualifications.

Speakers will include a Rhode Island Housing representative, a consumer credit-counseling service representative, and Steven Larson, Washington Trust assistant vice president, mortgage lending.

The seminar is hosted by Washington Trust and Rhode Island Housing Reservations are required to ensure space and course material availability. Attendees will receive the homebuyer's education certificate required for Rhode Island Housing financing. For reservations, call Tammy Fisher at Rhode Island Housing at 401-457-1245.

Thank you for publishing and posting thie, PBN. An informed first-time homebuyer is much more likely to be a successful homeowner than one who undertakes the process without knowing the challenges and pitfalls, as well as the many areas of assistance and support available.
