Free skin cancer screenings on the beach

NARRAGANSETT – A series of five free skin cancer screenings will be offered in July and August at Rhode Island beaches.

Provided by Sun Smarts, the screenings will all take place from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Screenings are being held on the following days and locations: at Easton’s Beach (Friday, July 17), East Matunuck Beach (Friday, July 24) Scarborough Beach (Sunday, July 26), Roger W. Wheeler Beach (Friday, Aug. 7), and Misquamicut Beach (Friday, Aug. 21).

Sun Smarts is a program of ABC6 and The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island that is sponsored by Lifespan, the Rhode Island Department of Health, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, University Dermatology, Women & Infants Hospital, Walgreens, and the American Cancer Society.

Participants will receive a complimentary bag of resource materials and beach essential samples (including sunscreen).
