GE Digital picks Dorrance Street offices for temporary home

PROVIDENCE – GE Digital, a tech division of the General Electric Co., is temporarily moving into downtown Providence offices until the beginning of 2017.
The company, which earlier this month announced it would open a tech center in Providence, will lease space on a temporary basis at 10 Dorrance St., Suite 700, according to company spokeswoman Amy Sarosiek. GE Digital, a burgeoning tech arm of the international conglomerate, is expected to hire 100 people over the next year at an average annual salary exceeding $100,000. The company is seeking a more permanent location, Sarosiek said, but expects to occupy the Dorrance Street offices near Kennedy Plaza until the beginning of 2017.
GE expects to announce its permanent location within the next two months.
