GTECH Corp. recently unveiled its 189th After School Advantage computer lab at Providence’s Rochambeau Community Library.
The $15,000 lab will serve neighborhood youth, providing computer-literacy training and homework assistance during after-school hours.
The Rochambeau lab is the 24th of 30 that will be installed in nonprofit organizations throughout Providence during a 10-year period as part of GTECH’s tax-stabilization agreement with the city.
“GTECH is proud to continue our partnership with the Providence Community Library and to support the youth in our capital city,” said GTECH Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Robert K. Vincent. “This lab donation will provide children with an opportunity to utilize an influential combination of educational resources and new computer technology that might not otherwise be available to them,” he said.
GTECH and the library celebrated the completion of the lab with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local leaders, including Providence Mayor Angel Taveras. •
