GTECH signs two-year extension with Mich. lottery

PROVIDENCE – GTECH Corp. has signed a two-year contract extension to continue providing lottery technology and services to the Michigan Bureau of State Lottery, the company announced on March 6.
GTECH expects to receive approximately $83 million in revenue during the two-year period through Jan. 19, 2017. After the extension expires, the Michigan Lottery has the option of committing to two additional extensions of two years each, for a total of six years in extensions available under the contract signed with GTECH in 2009.
“We are proud to have helped the Michigan Lottery increase its total sales in the last five years,” said GTECH Americas President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “Our close collaboration with the Michigan Lottery and strong products and services offerings have helped maximize its contributions to public education. We look forward to supporting the lottery’s continued sales growth for years to come.”
Under the terms of the contract extension, GTECH will continue providing the operation and maintenance of the Michigan Lottery’s central system, 11,000 Altura terminals and communications network; field services support; retailer training; marketing support; and call center support services.
GTECH will also continue providing instant-ticket services, including instant-ticket warehousing and distribution.
The Michigan Lottery currently ranks 10th in the U.S. in terms of total sales with nearly $2.5 billion recorded in its most recent fiscal year, GTECH said.
