PROVIDENCE – Gas prices are on the rise again, climbing 7 cents in Rhode Island, and 8 cents in Massachusetts, according to AAA Northeast’s weekly price survey.
In the Ocean State, self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.30 per gallon, 1 cent higher than the national average. A year ago at this time, Rhode Island’s average price was 40 cents higher at $2.70.
“In spite of today’s significant price spike at the pump, we’re still looking at the lowest gas prices in 11 years headed into Memorial Day weekend,” Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast’s senior vice president of public and government affairs, said in a statement. “Take advantage of lower prices and plan a road trip.”
