In Rhode Island, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.22 per gallon, which is 8 cents below the national average of $2.30. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 47 cents lower at $1.75.

“Lower driving demand at this time of year and an oversupplied market as a result of increased U.S. gasoline production has kept prices stable despite OPEC oil production cuts,” Lloyd Albert, senior vice president of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast, said in a statement.
