PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island gas prices remained unchanged this week after three consecutive weeks of rising prices, according to AAA of Southern New England’s weekly price survey.
The average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline ran $3.80, the same as last week.
That price is 24 cents higher than last month and 18 cents higher than the same week last year. Rhode Island’s price is 17 cents above the national average of $3.63.
The price at the pump remained unchanged in Massachusetts as well, at $3.71 per gallon of regular unleaded.
That price is 8 cents greater than the national average and 16 cents more than last year.
Bay State drivers will pay more starting Wednesday, however, when a gasoline tax increase takes effect. The tax will jump 3 cents per gallon, from 21 cents to 24 cents.
