PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices rose 1 cent in Rhode Island and 2 cents in Massachusetts this week, but are still well below the price in both states a year ago, AAA Northeast said.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.24 per gallon in the Ocean State, 1 cent more than last week. Rhode Island’s gasoline price also is 2 cents higher than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.22. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 41 cents higher at $2.65.
Prices in Rhode Island range from $2.13 to $2.45, with midgrade unleaded at $2.47; premium unleaded, $2.66; and diesel, $2.33.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.20 per gallon, 2 cents more than last week. The Massachusetts price is 2 cents lower than the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was $2.65.
Bay State prices range from $1.99 to $2.49, with midgrade unleaded at $2.44; premium unleaded, $2.62; and diesel, $2.26.
