Gas prices unchanged in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices are the same for the second week in a row in Rhode Island.
While prices are holding steady in the Ocean State, they are still at the highest point locally this year since mid-July, with self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.25 per gallon. That price is 3 cents above the national average of $2.22. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 10 cents lower at $2.15.
Regular unleaded prices range from $2.04 to $2.39, with midgrade unleaded at $2.51; premium unleaded, $2.70; and diesel, $2.49.
Gas prices in Massachusetts were unchanged, and also remain at the highest point this year since late July. In the Bay State, self-serve, regular gas is averaging $2.15 per gallon, 7 cents less than the national average of $2.22. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was 8 cents lower at $2.07.
In Massachusetts, the average price of other grades of gas is as follows: midgrade unleaded, $2.38; premium unleaded, $2.56; and diesel, $2.41.
