Gasoline continues price drop in R.I., Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in the Ocean State fell 3 cents over the last week, bringing the decline in the last weeks to 7 cents per gallon of self-serve, unleaded regular, AAA Southern New England reported Monday.

At $3.76 per gallon, the price of gas stands 1 cent below its level four weeks ago, according to the trade group’s weekly survey of Rhode Island’s pump prices. At that price, Rhode Island stands 8 cents greater than the national price of $3.68 per gallon. A year ago, unleaded regular cost $3.81 per gallon in the Ocean State.

Midgrade unleaded cost $3.93 per gallon, while premium unleaded cost $4.07. The survey noted that diesel fuel cost $4.18 per gallon. Unleaded regular ranged from $3.65 to $3.90 per gallon across the state.

Massachusetts drivers saw the price of self-serve, unleaded regular fall 4 cents in the last week to $3.66 per gallon, 2 cents less than the national average. Over the last 4 weeks, the price of gas in the Bay State has fallen 7 cents per gallon.

Midgrade unleaded averaged $3.84 per gallon, while premium unleaded averaged $3.97 and diesel $4.13.
