Get Started Rhode Island pitch contest slated for September

PROVIDENCE – Get Started Rhode Island will highlight up to five entrepreneurs who will pitch their ideas to a panel of experts and get a chance to win $40,000 in prizes.
Prizes include $10,000, a one-year Cox Business technology package, mentorship with Betaspring, advertising in local media, including Providence Business News, and more.
Get Started Rhode Island is being presented by Cox Business in partnership with Inc. Magazine. The fourth annual event will be held Sept. 22 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Biltmore Providence on Dorrance Street.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Visit coxblue.com/getstartedri to register to pitch or attend. Pitch applications are due July 31.
The moderator is Ken Kraft, vice president of marketing for Cox Business, Cox Communications’ $1.8 billion division that provides video, voice and data telecommunications services to businesses.
Panelists include Melissa Withers, managing director of Betaspring; Mark S. Murphy, editor of Providence Business News; Tom Burgess, CEO of Linkable Networks in Boston; and James Ledbetter, editor at Inc. Magazine.
Cox Business and Inc. are encouraging local business professionals to attend this free event for networking and learning opportunities.
Warwick-based CBC LLC, a designer of wind turbines for energy, took home the $10,000 first prize in the third Get Started RI Pitch Competition last year.
