The annual Newport Jazz Festival returns this weekend with a variety of performances at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Fort Adams State Park. More than 30 jazz artists and groups will play from Friday night to Sunday evening, drawing thousands of audience members from around the world. Referred to as the grandfather of all jazz festivals, the event began in 1954 and has hosted noted performers such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and many more throughout the years.
