Gloria Gemma foundation plates set to debut

PAWTUCKET – The first round of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation’s new “Ribbon of Hope” license plates were recently completed and will be available for pick-up on Sept. 6.
Rhode Island lawmakers approved the new plate in October of 2012. State law required the sale of at least 900 sets of license plates before production began.
Proceeds from the Foundation’s license plate will expand free breast cancer screenings offered through the R.I. Department of Health’s Women’s Cancer Screening Program.
Pick-up is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Warwick Mall’s parking lot marker 15, adjacent to Firestone. For those who cannot attend, plates will be available for pick-up starting Monday, Sept. 8, at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Cranston.
At pick-up, orders may be place for the new license plate, which costs $41.50 and features the Foundation’s trademarked pink ribbon image and the word ‘hope’ on the side. Order forms can be found at www.gloriagemma.org.
Now in its tenth year, the nonprofit offers free breast health education, awareness, and support programs statewide, as well as in some parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
