Going beyond the numbers

In Rhode Island’s business community, LGC+D always has been known as a top accounting firm, providing services for the nonprofit, for-profit and government sectors. But in recent years, the company has evolved into something more.

Accounting services are still a top priority, but now LGC+D also offers a suite of business services to clients, in such areas as technology, operations, human resources and marketing.

“Our growth over the past few years has been directly related to changes we made to adapt to the market,” said Richard J. DeRienzo, managing partner. “We’ve modified our offerings and added several new ones, most notably IT safety and security; international tax; and transactional services.”

LeveragedSolutions is the firm’s name for the new set of services offerings. Susan Keller was hired as managing director of the firm’s new segment.

“LS provides an integrated suite of business solutions through a single point of entry,” Keller said. “We’ve been able to build on the firm’s solid foundation as a trusted adviser to our clients … [who] up until now, have looked for many of these solutions from third parties.”

“LS was created as a response to market conditions,” added Renee Aloisio, partner and chief operating officer. “When we talked to clients, it became obvious their needs spanned multiple service disciplines.”

There are many places where companies can find temporary help, of course. LeveragedSolutions’ innovation is in how services are bundled and how they are delivered.

“Internally, we have a firmwide focus that it’s everyone’s responsibility to innovate and to enhance the client-service experience,” he said. “We include all levels of staff in our strategic client discussions … to give employees at every level opportunities to gain experience, learn something new, and to have a voice at the table as we build the firm of the future.” •
