JAMESTOWN – Employees of Granite Telecommunications LLC, contributed $3,368 to the Jamestown Education Foundation in mid-January.

Granite, a provider of phone, data, networking, and other communications and alarm services for businesses, employs over 1,100 people. Most work at its headquarters in Quincy, Mass.

Through weekly “Jeans Days,” held every Friday, Granite employees have the option to wear business casual attire or jeans with a donation of $3 to the selected charity. Each week, the Granite Cares Committee, comprised of Granite employees, chooses a qualifying nonprofit organization nominated by other employees.

Granite’s owner, Robert T. Hale Jr., matches the amount raised by employees. Weekly donations range from $2,000 to $4,000.

“We are incredibly grateful to Granite and its employees for their generous donation to the Jamestown Education Foundation,” said Nicole Fortenberry, foundation president. “With this gift we will continue to support enduring programs that guide our community’s youth on a path of lifelong learning.”

The foundation aims to provide educational and cultural development opportunities for Jamestown’s youth. Partnering with the Jamestown public schools and community organizations, the Foundation has helped provide an array of educational programs supporting academic excellence and healthy life choices.
