GreenBytes named Best of VMWorld 2013 finalist

PROVIDENCE – Virtual desktop optimization developer GreenBytes has been named a Best of VMworld 2013 finalist award winner, the company announced Tuesday.

VMworld is an annual global virtualization and cloud computing conference, hosted by virtualization giant VMware. This year’s event was held in San Francisco last week. An independent team of experts and editors at TechTarget.com selected the top technologies on display to receive Best of VMworld awards, judging on criteria such as innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease of use.

The GreenBytes IO Offload Engine was honored as a finalist in the Desktop Virtualization and End-User Computing category for its approach to overcoming storage-related desktop virtualization hurdles, according to a release.

The IO Offload Engine diverts heavy traffic from customers’ storage-area networks, using GreenBytes’ patented zero latency inline deduplication technology to cut desktop virtualization storage needs by up to 98 percent and maximizing the effective performance and capacity of existing infrastructure.

The GreenBytes technology beat out more than 200 nominees in nine categories for the award.

“We’re honored that such an influential media organization as TechTarget recognizes the critical role GreenBytes plays in enabling desktop virtualization to deliver on its promises,” said GreenBytes CEO Steve O’Donnell in the announcement.

GreenBytes will be honored Sept. 12 in the Providence Business News Fastest-Growing & Innovative Companies recognition program as the innovation winner in the technology category.
