PROVIDENCE – GreenBytes Inc., a developer of desktop virtualization services, has tapped Kevin Brown as its new chief financial officer, the company announced Thursday.

Brown, who joins GreenBytes from his CFO position at Farmingdale, N.Y.-based coffee supply company Filterfresh, officially took over the vacant position earlier this month.

In his new role at the Providence-based technology company, Brown is responsible for GreenBytes’ global financial management strategies and operations, according to a release.

“Kevin’s deep knowledge and accomplished background in corporate finance significantly strengthens GreenBytes’ executive management team,” Steve O’Donnell, chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “As GreenBytes continues to expand our global presence as a leader in the desktop virtualization arena, Kevin will play a critical role in overseeing our global financial management strategies and operations, and we are pleased to welcome him to the team.”

Prior to GreenBytes and Filterfresh, Brown held positions at application service provider Surebridge, storage management software provider Storability, Arthur Anderson LLP and KPMG Peat Marwick LLP. He is a certified public accountant and an alumnus of Babson College.

“In recognizing GreenBytes’ position as a key player in the desktop virtualization space, I’m pleased to have the opportunity to join the company and contribute to ongoing efforts that will continue to shape and develop the explosive VDI market,” Brown said in a statement. “The company’s growing list of partners and customers are a testament to the success achieved thus far, and I look forward to joining the executive management team as we work together to achieve our global objectives.”

Brown is the second recent executive hired by the company, which announced the appointed of Chris Maher as its chief operating officer last week.
