GreenBytes wins industry awards

PROVIDENCE – Robert Petrocelli, founder and chief technology officer of desktop-virtualization company GreenBytes Inc., has been named a Silver winner in the Technology Executive of the Year category of the Best in Biz Awards, an independent-business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts.
“It’s an honor to be named a Silver winner in the Technology Executive of the Year category in the Best in Biz Awards,” said Petrocelli in a statement. “Since starting the company in 2007, GreenBytes has worked tirelessly to innovate and bring to market cutting-edge solutions that optimize the way companies store and manage their data, while enabling them to reduce the carbon footprint of their information.”
Petrocelli, the principal architect of GreenBytes’ desktop-virtualization storage and optimization products, has been the recipient of three data-storage optimization patents and has advanced technical knowledge of medical devices, digital imaging and algorithms, digital storage and high-performance networks.
GreenBytes’ suite of desktop-virtualization products includes its vIO virtual-storage device, which won Desktop Virtualization Product of the Year at the 2013 Storage, Virtualization and Cloud Awards, held Nov. 21 in London.
“The SVC Awards recognize the users, manufacturers and suppliers operating in the cloud, virtualization and storage sectors and are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications,” said Franziska Priebe, marketing manager for award organizers Angel Business Communications. “All finalists did well in making the shortlist but GreenBytes was the clear winner in its category Desktop Virtualization Product of the Year.”
The vIO device features GreenBytes’ patented zero latency inline deduplication technology to deliver cost-effective, cloud-scale desktop virtualization while minimizing storage needs and maximizing the capacity of existing virtual-desktop infrastructure.
“We are absolutely thrilled to win Desktop Virtualization Product of the Year at this year’s SVC Awards,” said Michael Robinson, vice president of marketing for GreenBytes. “The vIO enables the user experience that OEMs and businesses need to turn VDI from an interesting concept into a compelling, feasible enterprise-wide solution. This particular award is important recognition as it was voted on by the public who have clearly identified GreenBytes as a key innovator and solution provider in the rapidly expanding VDI market.”
In September, the GreenBytes IO Offload Engine was named a Best of VMworld 2013 finalist award winner in the Desktop Virtualization and End-User Computing category. GreenBytes was honored earlier this year in the Providence Business News Fastest-Growing & Innovative Companies recognition program as the innovation winner in the technology category.
