One of Rhode Island’s fastest-growing companies is Ximedica, a medical-technologies-product-development firm that’s had significant growth over the last two years, both in terms of revenue and employment.

According to Hope Hopkins, director of communications for Ximedica, some expansion has come from increasing company holdings. Ximedica acquired two companies in California, but has also seen such tremendous employee growth in its Minneapolis location that larger office space is in the works.

But growth doesn’t dilute Ximedica’s trademark characteristic – an attention to detail that ensures a marketable product’s safety and reliability, as well as usefulness.

“It is entirely about retaining that specialized focus,” said Hopkins, noting that focus doesn’t mean imposing limits. “Our focus is on medical, but medical doesn’t know any boundaries.” With great potential for new products, thoughts and approaches, Ximedica helps advance products and product design to deliver transformative, new medical technologies to market.

Ximedica helps design innovative products, but also wants to bring forth products with staying power because they are both useful and sustainable, says Hopkins.

“We could do all kinds of things and be on to the next product,” she said. “But we have a core commitment to doing things well and doing things right.” •
