HMA provides $20K for programs geared to women, family

NEW BEDFORD – Four local programs that benefit women and families received $20,000 in grants from the Hawthorn Medical Associates Charitable Fund, part of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts.

James Gularek, CEO of HMA, said the programs benefiting from this year’s grants “will make a real difference in the communities we serve.”

He added: “Hawthorn’s focus this year was on supporting organizations that recognize the enormous impact that education and knowledge can have on the quality of life for women and children in need.”

A $500,000 endowment established by the HMA and managed by the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts is the source of the grants awarded in mid-December.
