HSRI: Enrollments grow to 35,813

PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI said another 385 individuals signed up for health coverage on the exchange as of Feb. 13, bringing total enrollment to 35,813.

The figure represents those who have paid and those who have not. The majority also were auto-enrolled into a 2016 plan, HSRI said.

A total of 8,448 of the 35,813 individuals have selected a plan for 2016 coverage, and are new to the exchange this year or are returning after being enrolled with HSRI at some point during a prior year.

In addition, 33,473 of the 35,813 individuals have paid their first month’s premium. The number of paid enrollments is expected to rise as individuals pay for March coverage through the Feb. 23 payment deadline, HSRI said.

Also, only 12 percent of those who enrolled are not receiving some type of financial assistance. Of those who have enrolled to date, 53 percent are women and 47 percent are men.

During the Feb. 7 to Feb. 13 period, HealthSource RI received 10,524 phone calls, and 10,030 unique visitors to its website, healthsourceri.com.
