PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI released its latest enrollment data for the week ending Dec. 12, showing an additional 481 individuals have signed up for health insurance coverage.
HealthSource RI said that the 31,981 individuals enrolled so far represent those who have paid and those who have not paid, and nearly all of them are current HSRI enrollees auto-renewed into a 2016 plan.
The exchange also said 2,189 individuals are new to HSRI this year or are returning after being enrolled at some point during a prior year.
Females continue to dominate enrollment at 54 percent, while men make up 46 percent. Eighty-six percent of those who enrolled are receiving some type of financial assistance, while 14 percent are not, HSRI said.
Neighborhood Health Plan has the largest enrollment at 53 percent, followed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island at 44 percent and UnitedHealthcare at 3 percent.
Open enrollment for individuals and families runs through Jan. 31. Small employers may enroll at their renewal date, regardless of where it falls during the calendar year. Medicaid-eligible individuals also may enroll throughout the year.
This past week, HealthSource RI received 11,595 phone calls, and 59,357 since open enrollment began on Nov. 1. In addition, its website at healthsourceri.com received 16,335 and 90,522 unique visitors during the same time periods, respectively.
