Hand and nerve surgeon joins Wakefield practice

WAKEFIELD – Dr. Ben Phillips has joined RI Ortho-South County Orthopedics as the practice’s hand and nerve surgeon. The only surgeon with his training and background in an orthopedic practice in Rhode Island, Phillips treats a range of hand injuries and abnormalities – from carpal tunnel syndrome to intricate nerve repair.

His medical school training began at Brown University. Soon after, he completed his fellowship in hand/microsurgery and peripheral nerve surgery at Washington University under one of the country’s premier nerve surgeons. He also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Pittsburgh.

Phillips had previously worked as an attending surgeon at the Orthopedic Hand Clinic at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, and as an attending surgeon at the Medical College of Virginia Medical Center.
