Enjoy free samples of seasonal fare, beverages, sweets, snacks, and more. Purchase from a variety of food, art, and products from over 125 local vendors, including area farms, artisans, restaurants and businesses. Indulge in local items, including johnny cakes, clam cakes, chowder, barbecue chicken and pulled pork sandwiches, lobster rolls, seafood, burgers, pies, kettle corn, apples, corn, cider, and over fifty other culinary specialties. Relax and enjoy the foliage by the scenic Queen’s River and waterfall.
Sample local wine and beer, and purchase by the glass. Take a tour of the historic mill, the oldest manufacturing business in Rhode Island. Enjoy a colonial encampment and visit with the alpacas, sheep and goats. Listen to live music from over twelve bands, including Southern Rhode and songs “Clam Cakes & Chowder” by Uncle Funk, and “Johnny Cakes” by Bill E. Payne. Select from an assortment of local art. Watch a variety of old world demonstrations, such as blacksmithing, basket weaving, flute playing, chair caning, bowl turning, wheel and drop spinning, flax spinning and loom weaving, bucket making, stone carving, and pottery throwing. Enjoy book signing, wampum shell cutting and shaping, watercolor painting, rug weaving, face painting, silhouettes, and pumpkin carving. Special guests include Munroe Dairy’s MooCow, Plummy the Plum Beach Lighthouse, Roger Williams, Commander of the Gaspee, and more!
Event Location: Kenyon's Grist Mill - West Kingston, RI | Free parking is exclusively at the Washington County Fairgrounds (only minutes from the mill) with eleven free and continuous shuttle buses. Parking Address: 78 Richmond Townhouse Road (Route 112), Richmond, RI 02812. Each bus will be themed where local attractions and historians will share their unique knowledge of the state.
Admission is only $3/person. Children 5 and younger are free. Sorry ~ No pets. Please bring food and clothing donations to benefit the Jonnycake Center. Per every order of johnny cakes, a portion of sales will also be donated to the RI Breast Cancer Coalition.
