PAWTUCKET – The majority of Americans plan to forgo the fancy clothes and crowded venues this New Year’s Eve in order to ring in 2013 at home with family and friends, according to a new survey released by toy and game maker Hasbro Inc.

The survey, conducted by Wakefield Research among 1,000 adults ages 18 and up, found that 75 percent of adults in the U.S. plan to stay in this Dec. 31.

“With so many New Year’s celebrations taking place at home this year, we know that hosts will be looking for the perfect entertainment options to kick off 2013,” Jonathan Berkowitz, vice president of marketing for Hasbro Gaming, said in a statement. “Getting a group together for a laugh-till-you-cry game of Scrabble Catch Phrase or an epic, nail-biter of a game of Jenga will certainly be a fun, memorable way to start the new year.”

Hasbro’s survey, which recommended games as party past-times, found that game teams mattered to those polled. Nearly 40 percent of those polled found that they would least like to partner with their boss during game night. In-laws and parents were also unpopular choices, with 21 percent and 15 percent of those surveyed choosing them as the people they would least like to partner up with during game night.
