PAWTUCKET – Hasbro Inc. this week was named a “health champion” by the American Diabetes Association for its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees.

To qualify for the designation, a company must meet healthy living criteria in three areas: nutrition and weight management, physical activity and organizational well-being.
“We recognize that our employees are our greatest strength and most valuable asset, so we’re deeply committed to supporting the health and well-being of our people,” Dolph Johnson, executive vice president and chief human resource officer at Hasbro, said in a statement. “I’m proud that Hasbro has been recognized for our commitment in this area because it’s something we take very seriously.”
Hasbro offers a variety of initiatives and services to encourage healthy habits, including: on-site fitness centers, healthful meals in the company cafeterias, programming dedicated to mindfulness and meditation, Weight Watchers at Work, yoga classes, 5k training and smoking cessation plans.
Hasbro was recognized in the corporate category by the American Diabetes Association. Numerous companies around the country were recognized, including Verizon.

The American Diabetes Association said the Health Champion Designation is part of its Wellness Lives Here initiative to encourage healthful habits at work and beyond. As part of that initiative, the association said it recognizes companies, organizations and communities that make health and wellness a priority for their employees, members and community groups.
