CRANSTON – HealthSource RI and the Cranston Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced the creation of a small business hotline to be co-administered by the two organizations.
The hotline, which will be staffed Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., can be reached at (401) 785-3780 and will serve as a resource for employers who want to learn more about health insurance options for their employees through HealthSource RI, according to a news release.
“[Chamber President] Steve Boyle and Director [Christine] Ferguson had some conversations about how to reach out to small employers in the community, and the hotline was the result,” said HealthSource RI spokeswoman Dara Chadwick.
Chadwick noted that the hotline should be considered a “first step” for employers interested in learning about the exchange.
“It’s a great number to call if you are just looking for some general information, or if you have some questions about how to figure out what’s best for your employees,” she said.
According to the latest HealthSource RI enrollment data, 107 small-business employers have completed enrollment in the exchange since mid-November, out of the 1,081 employers who have initiated applications. Those 107 employers represent 658 covered individuals, HealthSource RI said.
Chadwick indicated that the hotline will be staffed by the chamber and that hotline personnel will work closely with the enrollment team at HealthSource RI. In addition, the HealthSource RI contact center will continue to have its own dedicated number for small businesses to call.
The HealthSource RI contact center number for small businesses is (855) 683-6757.
